IIS (The Internet Foundation in Sweden) is an independent organization for the benefit of the public that promotes the positive development of the internet in Sweden. We are responsible for the internet’s top-level domains .se and .nu. We are in charge of administration and technical maintenance of the domain-name registries. The surplus from the domain business is invested in projects that promote the positive development of the internet. Since 2004, IIS have managed Internetfonden (The Internet Fund), which through financing external projects that promote the internet’s development, supports both business and personal life in Sweden. We sponsor open source and open standards. During 2014, we supported more than 40 individual projects and in all we have financed over 300 projects.
